Meet the Poet Babies - Megan
Since only the hippest clothes hung in my closet, I thought I had dressed to success. I always got the latest trends from the magazines and went shopping with the girls every week. We’d spill the beans on the gossip and check which stars – and friends – were getting fat. We didn’t spend lots, but we looked right. I even met my hubby because he wore the same jacket as you-know-who.
I remember inviting a neighbor to my book club because she had just moved to town. She came in this tired outfit that was “over” two years before. I tried chatting with her about the hot designers in Hollywood, but she had no clue about what celebrities were wearing or dating! She just wasn’t going to fit in so I had to avoid her for weeks until she got the message.
But looking back, it seems that my life was less than skin deep. I should have judged people on their hearts instead of their clothes. I should have had more concern for my friends and community than I did for fashion and celebrities. Now that I have a second chance as one of the Poet Babies, I will teach people to cherish a person’s inner beauty.

Poem Flash - Rhyming Bits of Light From Megan
Help Suri Cruise Help You
It’s a life under glass for poor Suri Cruise
And each time you look, you both lose
A child can’t grow under such scrutiny
Ask Drew Barrymore about her mutiny
And the time you spend focused on Suri
Is better spent with, or making!, your baby
Gossip and rumors make everyone small
Ignore Suri Cruise and help us all walk tall
No Fake Love
We think you're styling in that Goochey bag
And the Shannelle coat you call “this old rag”
But what we truly love is your support of friends
And how your generosity just never ends
Some folks judge others by labels and cost
We know they’re the ones who really are lost
So when meeting a snob feel free to us quoth
“Fake purse, genuine soul... I have both!”
Hours Devoted To Brangelina
Think of the minutes you give to them
Count all the time on People, US and CNN
What could you be? What could you have done
If you had spent that time on your personal sun?
Learned Italian or painted your room?
Infinite ways for you to bloom
So start anew and take an oath
Don’t let gossip stunt your growth! |
